After five days, two additional corpses, of the 136 traders that were missing after a boat mishap at Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State, have been recovered.

It would be recalled that a boat capsized along the River Niger, on Saturday, said to be conveying about 150 traders returning from Malali Market.

The accident occurred around Yauri area, when the boat carrying 150 passengers hit a tree branch in the water and capsized.

The Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in-charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammed, in a telephone interview with Daily Sun on the update on the incident, said they have recovered two additional dead bodies apart from initial seven corpses recovered, on Saturday.

Muhammmed said: “We recovered two additional bodies from the water. Five people in the hospital have been discharged and they have gone back to their families.”

Speaking on the development, Muhammad claimed 60 passengers were on board the wrecked canoe saying ” the fishermen around have rescued them when the incident occurred, so we do not have any missing passengers again.”
