Former Abia State governor and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr. Orji Kalu has extolled the late Senator Mahmud Kanti Bello, and lamented that his demise is a huge loss. Acknowledging the contributions of the late politician to national development, Kalu described the deceased’s stint at the National Assembly from 2003 to 2011 as remarkable. In a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Kunle Oyewumi, Kalu said, “the demise of Senator Bello is painful considering his contributions to national discourse.

“He was a nationalist and a true democrat whose philosophy of life was anchored on fairness and equity. “While serving as senator representing Katsina North Senatorial District, he discharged his legislative duties diligently. He also provided effective and responsive representation for his constituents.

“The late Senator Bello will be remembered for his extraordinary qualities. He was forthright, courageous and outspoken.

Kalu, urged the Kanti Bello family to uphold the good legacies of the deceased, and admonished them to take solace in the fact that their late patriarch lived for the people. Kalu also commiserates with President Muhammadu Buhari, the government and people of Katsina State and the National Assembly.
