International businessman and former governor of Abia State, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu will, tomorrow, visit Houston, to condole with the former President of the United States, Mr. George H. W. Bush, on the demise of his wife, Barbara, the former first lady and the mother of former president, George W. Bush.

Barbara Bush died in Houston, on Tuesday night, April 17, at 92.

Speaking from Washington DC, after a visit to his mother, Elder Mrs Eunice Uzor Kalu , the international businessman said his relationship with the Bush family dates back decades ago and  expressed appreciation for the way the late Mrs. Bush and her husband encouraged him over the years. Kalu said for Mrs Bush to have lived for 92 years was simply admirable and added that she lived a meaningful life.

Meanwhile, the former governor has reacted to disagreements in the All Progressives Congress (APC); over the outcome of the recently-concluded congresses.

He frowned at those trying to disrupt internal democratic process in the party and added that fractionalisation of the party is an unnecessary display of power and arrogance and also, explained that congress is only a micro part of the entire system.

He added that exhibiting actions that could cause tensions is not healthy for the party.  Kalu charged all camps to close ranks towards the greater success of the party adding that democracy must prevail for the progress of the entire nation.

On the recent controversial video on the social media, where the former governor was shown to have made an offensive statement about his actions in his former party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he reiterated that he never made such a statement. He, however, cautioned against irresponsible use of social media and added that people should desist from destructive online behaviour.

“Social media users should refrain from commenting and posting doctored videos that cannot be verified. People should learn how to engage in positive online use and stop propagating fake news,” Kalu said.
