Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi has been tipped to be shortlisted for the forthcoming CAF African Footballer of the Year Award.

The 22-year old has been instrumental to Arsenal’s top form in the English Premier League this season.
Iwobi received accolades from fans as SportingSun monitored various comment on a pay TV programme, the English Premier League Fan zone.

On the programme, Iwobi was favoured to make the shortlist for the Africa ultimate football award by fans across the globe.

“Iwobi has shown maturity. I am happy seeing him grow under new the new manager. I won’t be surprised if he make the shortlist for the award. Keep it up Iwobi, we Arsenal fans love you,” Paul Mariga, a Gunners fans from Kenya said.

In a similar vein, Neil Barker from South Africa opined: “I knew he will be instrumental. He got a great future ahead. I love the way he set up assist. Currently, he remains one of the best Africa footballer playing in the EPL. CAF award is around the corner, base on his performances, I sight his name on the shortlist.”

Other Arsenal fans across the globe showered praises on the fast rising Eagles’ star.

SportingSun recalled Iwobi was adjudged the CAF young player, just as he earned a place in the continental best XI in 2016.

Meanwhile, organisers of the award via cafonline.com have decided categories for this year’s edition.
