The Nasarawa State Police Command said it has arrested one Mwuese Keleve from Kardorako, in Keana Local Government Area of the state for allegedly killing her three-day-old baby.

 The state’s Police Public Relation Official (PPRO), Idirisu Kennedy, told our correspondent, on Wednesday, in Lafia, that the police, on Monday, received a report of a dead body of a baby found in the water at  Kaderko.

He added that their men swung into action and through intelligent

arrested the culprit which turns out to be the mother of the decease

child on Tuesday.

The PPRO, who gave the name of the woman as Mwuese Keleve, added that

she had confessed to the crime, but did not give any reason for her action.

Husband of woman and father of the deceased baby, Fanen Peter said what his wife did still beats his imagination.

Peter explained that they have been married for 15 years now with two

children and the deceased was supposed to be their third child.

He, therefore, said that the baby had since been buried as the body was

already decaying.

Traditional ruler in the area, the Oso of Kadoko of Kaderko

of Kaderko, Mr. Fabian Orugu, described the action of the woman as devilish and cannot be

tolerated.

He commended the efforts of residence of the area and the police for

collaboration that lead to the arrest of the perpetrator f the act.

He therefore said the traditional council would monitor the case to

make sure that the law takes its course in order to serve as deterrent

to others.
