The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), may soft-pedal on its hard stance not to allow the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.

This followed appeal by Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF), to the pro Biafra  organisation to shelve threat of boycotting  the poll.

President of the ADF, Prof. Uzodinma Nwala, who drop the plea at a news briefing  where IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu was present, yesterday in Owerri, the Imo State capital, noted that sticking to the earlier decision would not be in the interest of the people of Anambra or the entire Igbo people, even as he disclosed that his group had written to the United Nations about the threat to the lives of Igbo living in the North by the Arewa youths.

Nwala, who described Kanu as an obedient and true son of Ndigbo, was optimistic that the IPOB leader would listen to the elders of Ndigbo .

Kanu promised to consult with the leadership of IPOB on the planned boycott in view of the latest development. He, however, assured that he would not disrespect the elders of Ndigbo.

Prof. Nwala said ADF had already notified the United Nations of the Arewa youths’ quit order to Igbo to leave the North on or before October 1, stressing that the lives of their kinsmen were in jeopardy, as the northern elders had kept a deafening silence over the matter.

In another development, security agents yesterday, dispersed pro-Biafra supporters, who gathered in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, unannounced.

Members of the group were said to have assembled in Artillery area of Port Harcourt singing pro-Biafra songs when security men arrived the scene and dispersed them.

The activists reportedly did not resist.
