…Give us  freedom now, MASSOB tells FG

From Jeff Amechi Agbodo and Aloysius Attah, Onitsha

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of shielding and supporting former governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi for allegedly inducing the judges to deliver election cases in favour of the party in some states.
The group said Amaechi’s action,  as reported, is corruption of the highest order and wondered why the president is shielding him and others.
A statement by IPOB  media and publicity secretary, Mr. Emma Powerful described APC as “a group of corrupt cliques who are bent to ruin the country” and wondered why government is “still appointing alleged corrupt people while there are good and honest people in Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, members of Chief Ralph Uwazuruike-led Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Biafran Independent Movement (BIM), yesterday, told the Federal Government to let Biafrans have an independent state of Biafra, in the interest of peace.
Uwazuruike, who spoke through the Anambra South Regional Director, Chief Arinze Igbani during commissioning of a zonal office in Uga community, Aguata Local Government Area, said there is no going back in the struggle.
Igbani said Biafran actualisation has reached its last bus stop and they are fully prepared to take over the leadership of the Biafran Republic, hence, the establishment of all the strongholds of the Biafran government.
He said various offices of MASSOB/BIM are being re-opened across the South East while “ministries of Transport and Agriculture, in Biafran Republic, are fully operational.
“We want to ensure food sufficiency in Biafranland and all ingredients of mechanised agriculture have been put in place towards achieving this goal. We are forging ahead in the struggle until the last day of victory,” he stated.
Also speaking, an elder in council, Revd. Linus Ifeanyi Iroanya  said the work of the struggle will take another strong shape with the establishment of regional offices.
He condemned a crackdown on MASSOB members by security agencies and added that the more they oppressed members for agitating, the more they will continue to rise.
Iroanya described the MASSOB-BIM struggle as “a mass movement founded on truth, while the blood of all martyrs shed by the coercive government agents have watered the seed of the struggle and made it an everlasting movement.”
