All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, yesterday, described the call by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the impeachment of Governor Willie Obiano of the state for alleged constitutional breaches as a cheap propaganda.

The PDP, through its state chairman, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, wrote the state House of Assembly demanding investigation of Obiano for allegedly travelling out of the country and spent more than 30 days without transmitting a letter to the state Assembly to that effect, among other offences, including non conduct of local government election.

But, in its reaction, APGA, through its state secretary, Mr. Tony Ifeanya described Emeakayi’s letter as laughable, stressing that Anambra people are wiser and would not fall for such political antics.

His statement read: “Ken Emeakayi is at it again. Last year,  he called a press conference and demanded account of local government money in the state and threatened fire and brimstone. We told him to first put his house in order since we do not know which faction of PDP he was representing then.

“That assignment we gave him last year has not been carried out. He has not succeeded in solving the problems in PDP.

“In fact, PDP in Nigeria today is in comatose; we have Sheriff and Makarfi factions. The implication of this is that PDP, as it were, is in shambles and cannot speak with one voice. And until that happens, he should shut his mouth as the Constitution of Nigeria does not recognise factional parties or factional chairman.

“How does Emeakayi know that the governor travelled out of the country without recourse to the state Assembly, neither did he inform the House of his return?

“I know the likes of Ken Emeakayi, who have been thrown into political oblivion because of the lackluster performance of PDP, are seeking relevance through making unguarded utterances against the willing working governor of Anambra State who, as we speak, is still collecting awards and accolades for good performance in Nigeria.

“It is laughable to note that he has written security agencies to intimate them of this development. Let me ask Emeakayi this question, which is better, to travel outside the state without transmitting a letter to the House of Assembly, assuming it is true, or burning down the whole government institution as his PDP did in 2004/2005 in Anambra State?

“We have told the likes of Prince Ken Emeakayi that Anambrarians are wiser now and can no longer fall for their cheap propaganda and political antics of bitterness, rancour and acrimony.

“As the Commissioner for Works under Governor Mbadinuju, why did he not conduct local government election then, or was this section of the constitution not in the constitution then?

“Ken and his likes should appreciate the good works of His Excellency, Chief Obiano (Akpokue Global) so that his goodness will rub off on them. I think that is actually what they want and I know the governor will accommodate them.”
