No fewer than 50 suspects nabbed for alleged armed robbery, murder and kidnapping were yesterday paraded by the Imo state Police Command.

Addressing newsmen at the state Command , Commissioner of Police, CP Taiwo Lakanu, said 11 people were arrested for armed robbery, murder,  cultism and vehicles snatching. Ten others, he said, were nabbed for kidnapping and child stealing/trafficking.  Others were arrested for burglary/stealing and vandalism of PHCN property, he said.

Lakanu  also revealed  that the command rescued five stolen babies, recovered 10 vehicles as well as one locally made single barrel gun, and another local pistol.

He said the suspects were arrested between January 2017 till  date, adding that the command has commenced the  arrest of suspects involved in a Bank robbery last week.

The police boss said one Osondu, Uchechukwu, Onyekachi and Uchendu were arrested for armed robbery and murder of one Oscar Okebata, a veteran United States soldier from Achi Mbieri, in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State, who returned home for the Yuletide last year.

According to him, the victim’s Samsung Note 5 phone sold at N125,000 in Aba, Abia State led to the arrest of the suspected mastermind of the crime.

He added that another four men were on  February 8, 2017 arrested for armed robbery, following a distress call, as they trailed their victim who had withdrawn a huge amount of money from a bank at Amakohia, in Owerri North LGA of the State.

He gave the names of the suspects as  Chibuzor, Williams,  Ibeh and Uchenna.
