From Tony Osauzo, Benin

EDO State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has declared that with or without oil money his administration will continue to work to provide dividends of democracy for the greatest number of Edo people until his last day in office.

He made the remarks while speaking with newsmen in Benin, shortly after he inspected some ongoing projects in the state capital.

The projects include the Upper Siluko Road, the eight Kilometre underground storm water drainage at Igbinaduwa linking Textile Mill Road, 2nd East Circular Road dualisation project and Erediauwa Road as well as 25 adjoining streets roads.

Oshiomhole said: “We have not stopped work and by the special grace of God, we will not stop. Because for us, you separate the boys from the men when the going gets tough. You can see from Upper Siluko, we are working, Igbinaduwa, you saw the water storm project. By the time the road is tarred nobody will know what is beneath it.

“You have seen the reaction of the people everywhere we went. You have seen the massive work in 2nd Circular, Erediauwa road includes about 25 streets. For people in these areas, they have given up like many other parts of the state before we came. So, Edo is working and Edo will continue to work with or without oil money.

“We always say what we don’t have in the pocket we have in our will. And when  there is will, there will always be a way. When you see those old men and old women praying from their hearts, the combine powers of those prayers will completely neutralise any principality, any thing planned by opponents.”

The governor said whatever he was doing now was not because he was seeking re-election but because it was his conviction that government must work with the people and it is not to fake things because election is coming.
