IBB’s letter: IGP orders arrest of Kassim Afegbua

Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered for the arrest of Kassim Afegbua for the statement he issued on behalf of former President Ibrahim Babangida.

A Presidency source confirmed this development to our correspondent, on Sunday night.

Afegbua, in the statement issued on behalf of Gen. Babangida, quoted him as saying that President Muhammadu Buhari should not seek for reelection in 2019.

However, in a swift reaction, the former president denied issuing a statement  calling on Nigerians to disregard the earlier statement by Afegbua.

According to the source” the IGP has ordered for the arrest of Kassim Afegbua for issuing a fake statement. He was advised to submit himself to the Force Headquarters in 24 hours or face arrest .

The portentous and presumptuous actions of the Inspector General of police is stupefying, necessitous and bestial. Where Nigerians expect the IG to act, he remains reticent, obdurate, haughty and uncanny. His utterances are repugnant, disdainful and gibberish. Has General IBB asked him to arrest his spokesman? how many Fulani militia has he arrested so far? He is looking for soft targets and cheap popularity. The current IG is the most opprobrious, discombobulative Morris dancer that will eventually discommode his Master, Buhari if not changed.
