Last weekend, actress, Biodun Okeowo aka Tolani Oshirin unveiled a new branch of her spa, Victoria Beauty Spa, which attracted the crème of the motion picture industry. During the unveiling, the curvy mother of two took time out for a chat with Entertainer and she opened up on her latest project, life as a single mother and plans to remarry.
The Biodun Okeowo we used to know makes movies every year but for the past two years nothing has happened. Are you tired?
Yes, that is what I used to do but since 2014 I haven’t produced any movie. That is part of the sacrifice that I am making to see that my other brands grow perfectly.
Do you sometimes get jealous seeing your colleagues excelling while you are still trying to establish other businesses?
No! Not at all. I don’t see it that way. Let me explain to you how I see it. We are all in a race to win a prize and then along the way, I saw money and picked it while others passed by. As the journey continued, I saw something nice again and also picked it up. At the end of the race, my contemporary came first and was presented the prize but in my case, I completed the race too and had two gifts to show off. You can see that I am still at the winning end; it is not how far but how well. So, I have no reason to be envious. After all I have made a name in the industry. I really don’t have anything to lose; there is no late comer in success.
Talking about Instagram, how do you cope with negative comments that always flood your page?
I am a very free and playful person but I think there is this mentally that Nigerians have about dressing. They believe you can’t dress the way you like. But I am an advocate of ‘dress in whatever you are comfortable in.’ If I feel like rocking my bikini, I will do just that without minding whatever people are saying. When next I travel to Miami, I am going to rock my bikini. As for the comments on Instagram, sometimes, I laugh and at other times I just respond but I don’t sound bitter or angry. I reply playfully and make my point that they have no right to judge me.
For those that seek cheap attention, I give it to them in full dose whenever I am in the mood. If my dressing and butt make people talk on my Instagram, I will keep on rocking more of such clothes and flaunting what I have.
How real is your butt?
It is very real, given to me by God. It is not a crime flaunting what you got! I have never done any butt enlargement and I don’t wear butt-pads, for what? I am so endowed naturally!
Talking about your man, we heard from a reliable source that you are already married but very discreet, how true is that?
(Laughs) Okay, I am not. But when I do it is going to be very discreet. But I will keep you posted.
But you must have performed some rights in secret because looking into your eyes we can see you are deeply in love…
Yes-oo! I won’t lie about that. I am deeply in love. But I haven’t tied the knots yet. But very soon I will and it is going to be very private.
Any regrets leaving your ex-husband?
I don’t regret leaving my ex. In fact, I don’t feel anything for him anymore. No pains and no regrets. He tried to get us back but I just couldn’t. The only day I felt bad and cried was the day I heard he had remarried. That he actually paid someone else’s bride price because in my case, my family members were begging him to come and pay mine.
What are you looking out for in your future husband?
Trust and God; the man must be God fearing. Any marriage that has sincere trust and God will survive. The problem with actresses and their spouses is lack of trust. They feel whenever you step out for weeks for a shoot, some funny things must happened. The media too is not helping matters. They cook up all kinds of stories and your partner might swallow it hook, line and sinker. In fact, there was this story I read about myself that my ex chased me out of his house because of infidelity. I was surprised because such a thing never happened. If it did, he wouldn’t have come back begging to reconcile with me. I never cheated on my ex for once. I might be temperamental but I am not a cheat. Those kinds of fake news break homes.
You are launching a Spa and this is coming barely one year after your beauty shop, what inspired it?
Well, I would say my clients. When they come and I do skin test for them they go home feeling happy because it works. I see some ladies with clogged pores and I tell them what to do and refer them to some trusted spas. At a point, the ladies started insisting that I run a spa as well instead of always referring them. So I decided to give it a shot. I am a perfectionist and I try to do things to suit my taste. We do facials, body massage, fixing of lashes, nails, boobs and butt enlargement, flattening of the tummy and other wonderful services.
