THERE was confusion at the weekend in Eziala Amaisii Uvuru Community in Aboh Mbaise Council of Imo State as daredevil armed men allegedly invaded the community and whisked away an indigene of community from the palace of the traditional ruler.

The unidentified armed men were said to have invaded the community, shooting sporadically into the air to scare the people before they went into the palace of the traditional ruler, Amaisii/ Ndigbo autonomous community, Eze Uju Azorji and then abducted Mr. Kelechi Nwogu. Sunday Sun learnt that the traditional ruler had convened a meeting at his palace over the matter of the missing wife of Mr. Kelechi Nwogu who was said to have allegedly absconded from their Lagos residence to an unknown destination. Nwogu had gone to Orlu to intimate his in-law with the missing of his wife, but the parents said they had not set their eyes on her.

“It was in a bid to resolve the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Kelechi’s wife that Eze Azorji convened the meeting. But while the meeting was in progress, we started hearing gunshots. And before we knew what was happening, armed men had invaded the palace and immediately bundled Nwogu into a waiting SUV and sped off,” an eye witness recounted the incident. Upon investigation, it was learnt that Mrs. Nwogu, a staff of a foreign embassy in Lagos, allegedly issued visas suspected to be fake after collecting huge sums of money from her unsuspecting clients and fled afterwards. But Kelechi accused his in-law of being aware of his wife’s whereabouts, which was why the meeting was convened,” he added.

A police source at the Oke Uvuru Divisional Police Headquarters confirmed the abduction of Mr. Kelechi Nwoguan, adding that the matter had been transferred to state command’s anti- kidnapping unit.
