… More Abia political heavyweights join APC

In appreciation of the role the former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu played in his political life, former Senate President; Chief Adolphus Wabara, has admitted that he benefited from the malevolence of former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu.

According to Wabara, he was brought into the race by the eminent businessman following the disqualification of the initial candidate for his senatorial district.

He said Kalu was a reliable politician who stands firm on his rights and beliefs notwithstanding the consequences.

Prominent politicians in the state including Wabara’s  younger brother and former Chief Executive Officer of the defunct Hallmark Bank,  Chief Mark Wabara, have also declared for All Progressive Congress (APC).

Wabara made the disclosure recently during the 150th anniversary of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ohambele in Ukwa East, Abia State.

Expressing his gratitude to Orji Kalu whom,  he described as the architect of his political sojourn, Wabara said he  became the Senate President because Kalu made him a senator.

“I want to also use this opportunity to thank the former governor for the political benevolence he  extended to me and our family. I want to clearly state here that my being in the Senate and subsequently a Senate President was made possible by God through Kalu. I never envisaged running for an election and it just happened that three days to the general election, my brother, Mark, told me that Kalu wanted to see me and the rest are now history. I remain grateful ” He said

Corroborating the assertion of the former Senate President, his younger brother, Mark, who was also present in the church, reaffirmed that Dr. Kalu singlehandedly made his brother a federal legislator.

According to the younger Wabara, “When Kalu called me and intimated me of the disqualification of the initial candidate three days to the election. I would have ceased the opportunity but I conceded it to my  brother.

“In consideration of my commitment as a bank Chief Executive officer, it would not have been a possible venture for me. I don’t think I loved political association at that time. Kalu has done much for us and we are appreciating him from the depth of our hearts. ” He noted.

Meanwhile, the church anniversary took another shape when Mark and his wife while hosting  the former governor and his entourage their residence declared for the APC.

The gathering during Mark Wabara’s declaration had in attendance  Chief Chris Akomas,  Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, Ambassador Sam Nkire, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, Chief Anyim Nyerere, Senator Chris Adighije ,Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, Dr Madukwe Ukaegbu, Chief Amobi Ogah, Prince Flavian Obidigbo Enwezoh Hon. Chibuike Jonas among others

In the same vein, the former All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA)  senatorial candidate in the last general election,  Chief Bourdex Onuoha has joined the APC.

This brings to number more prominent political leaders in the state joining the APC following Dr Orji Uzor Kalu’s entry .
