The Ogun State Police Command has smoked out over 55 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers, recovering stolen vehicles and 25 illegal arms and ammunition.

Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Illiyasu, told Daily Sun that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), commander, Uba Adams, with his operatives clamped down on 20 suspected armed robbers and raided black spots, which the suspects used to carried out operations:

“Criminals have started relocating away from the state because it has been too hot for them to carry out their operations. Over 22 suspected cult members were arrested with charms, which they used for their initiation. We have chased them out with the co-operation of their school authority. Immediately after the investigation we charge them to court.

“The Police Division, Igbede, in collaboration with SARS operatives arrested three suspected armed robbers, Biola, Wasiu and Bolaji were arrested when they were operating at Owakurudu old Epe garage area of Ijebu-Ode.

“The Sango Ota Division arrested one Kingsley Chigbo defiling his wife’s 13-year-old younger sister. The victim confessed that her elder sister’s husband has been having sex with her under duress with threat that he will kill her if she ever tells anybody.  The suspected was arrested at Asikolaye Street, Gas Line, Ijoko-Ota.

“The Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested 15 suspected kidnappers and rescued five victims unhurt. The kidnappers confessed to their crime. Police raided their hideout especially the uncompleted building used for hostage taking. Some of the suspects have been charged to court while others are still under investigation.

“SARS operatives with other detectives raided the black spots on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ijebu-Ode Expressway to checkmate the hoodlums.
