Emmanuel Olowookere, aka Bestsa Klefchylde, is determined to ride the music world and make a positive mark. Entertainer spoke with the up-and-coming singer and graduate of Mechanical Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and he opened up on his debut single, Delusion, and his style of music which he has christened spiritman.

Tell us about yourself?

My name is Olowookere Oluwatobiloba Emmanuel. My stage name is Bestsa Klefchylde and I am a believer of the gospel and devoted music lover.

You are a graduate of Mechanical Engineering, why music?

Music is second nature to me. It became stronger when I got admission into the university. I had a producer friend, Shoba King, who formed a group which I was part of. Unfortunately, the group broke up and I started my own thing. My first solo, Delusion, was produced in 2012.

Why the title Delusion?

A particular girl messed with my heart back then and that was what inspired it. I tried to profess my love to her but she wouldn’t budge. Looking back, I feel happy that she made me go through that because the experience made me realise my true self.

How will you define your style of music?

It is a combination of soul and spiritman. I created the spiritman sound as my unique type of sound.

What are you working on presently?

I am working on an EP due for release later this year. The EP will comprise six or seven tracks. I am currently channelling spiritual and musical energy in my bid to make it universally relevant.

What are your challenges as an up-and-coming artiste?

My biggest challenge is myself because I always think I can do better every time I hear my output. Another challenge is finance and folks who keep telling me to join mainstream music. I don’t want to go with the flow because I think most of the songs out there are too shallow and are not positive.

Are there artistes you look up to in the industry?

Yes, they are Tuface, Asa, Nneka and The Abaga Brothers.

Where do you want to be in the next five years?

I want to be known as someone who created spiritman, a new music genre. I also want to touch lives positively as a global humanitarian.
