A group, under the auspices of Akpokuodike Action Group for Continuity (AAGC), has endorsed Governor Willie Obiano for second term in office in forthcoming November 18 gubernatorial election in the state.

The group which is working to actualise the second term bid of Governor Obiano said that its support was based on his numerous achievements ranging from prompt payment of workers’ salaries, security of lives and property among others.

According to AAGC, other achievements recorded by the governor in over three years included massive agricultural development through the production of rice, scent leave, vegetable and yam for exports; infrastructural development through the construction of roads and flyover bridges, housing scheme for workers etc.

The state chairman of the group, Mr. Michael Nwofia, while addressing the members at  Iyiora Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area, said that the decision of the group to endorse the governor was borne out of his sterling and unprecedented performance in office which has made the state a reference point in the comity of States in Nigeria.

According to Mr. Nwofia, the effective security network put in place in the state which was hitherto a haven for armed robbery, kidnapping and other social vices made the governor to win the confidence and support of the group.

He further disclosed that his community was since the creation of the state been neglected by all the previous administrations both military and civilian until Governor Willie Obiano took over the mantle of leadership of the state and constructed one of the longest bridges in the state that links them with the rest of the citizens of the state.

Nwofia listed industrialisation, commerce and industry, good health care delivery, good roads across the three geopolitical zones of the state, quality education, prompt payment of workers’ salaries and arrears as some of the things that placed the governor ahead of his contemporaries nationwide.

said that there was no vacancy in the government house until 2022 when governor Obiano might have completed his second tenure in order to complete the projects he started, urging other governorship aspirants/candidates to step down for Obiano and join hands to build new Anambra worthy of emulation than to go to the poll to be disgraced, calling the aspirants to wait till after Obiano’s second term to contest.

On the issue of the forthcoming gubernatorial poll in the state, the chairman said that governor Willie Obiano having come from the Anambra north senatorial zone should be allowed to continue his good works in the state and made it clear that his N20 million  community choose your project initiative has endeared him to the people of the state, even as he revealed that youths of the state are soaring higher because of his youths friendly government and called for all hands to be on deck in ensuring that the governor is reelected at the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

According to Nwofia “Governor Obiano should be allowed to go for second tenure because he has done well within the few years he has been in office. He has done well in the area of security, nobody has done it much since the creation of the state in the area of security within a few months of his administration”.

“In Anambra state now we are only hearing about kidnapping in other state of the federation but in the state it is no longer obtainable here. Secondly, one can sleep with his or two eyes closed since Obiano came on board. Before the governor assumed office we were witnessing all sort of crime reaching from daylight robbery, night robbery and bank robbery but since he came on board he gave them hard chase out of the state and crime has reduced to the barest minimum,” Nwofia stated.
