The Aviary Club of Nigeria, a non-governmental group, has donated relief items to Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs), in Uhuogua, Ovia North East, Edo State.

The Coordinator, Barr. Hope Iyare, led other members of the group to the camp  as a way of giving back and showing support to the needy in the society to  climax  its founder’s day anniversary activities.

Iyare, who expressed satisfaction over the efforts put in place by the care-giver in ensuring that the displaced persons live a better life, described him as emulating Christ and urged members of the larger society to emulate the same.

He said that while making plans to donate the relief items, the international Christian Center the home of the IDP’s was first in its selected priorities

According to Iyare, “We are here on this visit to make our contributions and show appreciation through these relief items to you for caring for these ones who have been displaced by Boko Haram Insurgency.

“What you are doing here has assured you of heavens. Well we can’t compare you to Christ. But we would describe you as Christ like.

“Though Christ fed over five thousand but today you are feeding over three thousand displaced persons in the campaign. Trust me some notable persons among us would come back and do more.”

Iyare, who further pledged that the Aviary club would continue to do all within its coffers to complement efforts of the caregiver, urged stakeholders to place a premium priority in giving a helping hand to the displaced

Responding, Pastor Solomon Folorunso, the Coordinator International Christian Centre and care-giver of the IDPs, in Uhuogua, said they were encouraged and more motivated by the show of love displayed by the group.

Continuing, he stressed that some relief materials like antibiotics, anti malarial tablets, learning materials and disposable Hand gloves, are presently not available for use.

Adding,”With 3000 displaced persons in the camp we prepares approximately 10-15 bags of Rice mixed with other food stuffs per meal to feed them.”

He, however, appealed to government, philanthropist, corporate entities and the society at large to deepen efforts in making earnest provisions for the IDP’s.

Some relief items distributed include Bags of Rice, Beans, Garri, Indomie noodles, clothes and others.
