A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Believers in Politics (BIP), has called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and other Christian bodies to take interest in political leadership of the country.
The group urged the Christian bodies to encourage their members to register with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and make their votes count in the forthcoming elections.
It expressed hope that such would breed a new set of political leaders, who are not hungry for quick gain, fame or instant wealth.
Speaking at a press briefing during a meeting of Advocates for Right Leadership Association, at the Redemption Camp ground, BIP National Coordinator, Segun Olonade, urged political office holders to prioritise masses’ interest.
Olonade highlighted importance of having God-fearing people involved actively in the affairs of the country and pointed out that the most unfortunate evil or calamity that could befall any society was when people that could stop evil failed to act.
In his words: “Christians in leadership positions through politics or even by mere involvement in politics will be the voice of reasons wherever they are and will bring human face into good governance.” and administration.”
