The Federal College of Horticulture in Dadin-Kowa, Gombe State has matriculated 603 new students for the 2016/17 academic season.

In her opening address at the event, on Wednesday, Provost of the institution, Prof. (Mrs.) Fatima Sawa said in line with the thrust of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s policy of diversifying the economy of the country towards agriculture, the college has continued to focus on providing high quality teaching and learning experience for agricultural entrepreneurial graduates.

While admonishing the matriculating students against negative social behaviour, the provost warned that the institution has zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism, hooliganism and drug abuse.

She advised the students to remain focused towards their goals of completing their studies within the stipulated time.

The provost further disclosed that despite numerous challenges, the college is expanding its programs to meet up with the increasing demand.

“It is expected that by next academic session, this college, with approval of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), will commence its new programs (ND Animal Health, HND Pest Management, HND Crop Production, ND Fisheries Technology and ND Landscape Technology, among others,” she said.
