Champions of the just concluded WAFU B Champions, the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria is the only team left in Niger.

The NFF abandoned the team when they failed to pay their match bonuses running into millions of naira.

Albeit of the unforeseen circumstances, the NFF again failed to provide tickets for the team to return home as worthy champions. Only four players and two officials traveled yesterday morning from Niger while others are still stranded at the airport.

Impeccable source revealed that the abandoned players and officials are in a state of confusion as the Asky Airline management assures of seats by weekend.

“Yes, we’re stranded here. We are likely to return to Nigeria this weekend if they work harder.”

Our camp source also revealed that the team won the WAFU B U17 qualifiers on empty stomach as the players and officials were not paid a dime throughout the tournament.

“We’ve not been paid a dime as match bonus till now,” the sourced hinted.

Spokesman of the football house, Ademola Olajire in a telephone chat with SportingSun yesterday claimed his is not privy to the team’s traveling plans.

He also said some people gave the team monetary motivation during the tournament in Niger Republic.
