Four persons have been reported killed in two separate attacks on Katsina-Ala Town, in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. Another incident also occurred in a village near Jato-Aka in Kwande Local Government Area of the State.

The Daily Sun gathered that some suspected armed assailants had stormed the home of one Tor Abaji, located at Abaji area of Katsina-Ala on Tuesday night, burnt down his house, and in the process, one person was killed.

Sources disclosed further that, on Wednesday, some armed attackers who drove in a Toyota car popularly known as Dog Yash, stormed a market in Katsina-Ala and shot sporadically killing one person and injuring others in the process.

Also in Jato-Aka, two persons were, on Tuesday, reportedly killed in a village by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Confirming the reports, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Moses Yamu, said the market attack was suspected to be a reprisal of the Tuesday attack, adding that the owner of the burnt house in Katsina-Ala was actually invited by the police but was yet to show up at the command.

“In what was suspected as a reprisal, another victim was trailed to the market on Wednesday and shot dead by gunmen during which three innocent persons sustained gun wounds.”

The police image-maker said the attacks were suspected to be as a result of internal crisis between criminal factions in the area, revealing further that the police was trailing the suspects behind the crime.

Yamu, who also confirmed two persons killed in a near Jato-Aka in Kwande Local Government Area of the state, said that attack was carried out by suspected herdsmen.
