Flood has submerged four communities in Izzi and Abakaliki local government areas of Ebonyi State.
Communities affected by the flood, at the weekend, include Ngbo Agbaja, Onuebonyi, Inyimagu and Ogbuewu Street, in the state capital.
The flood submerged many homes and destroyed property worth several thousands.
When Daily Sun visited Inyimagu village, some churches were ravaged by the flood while some houses had collapsed.
In the village, occupants of a storey building were trapped and forced to abandon the first floor, for safety.
Apart from crops economic trees and livestock worth millions of naira destroyed by the flood, victims claimed they are hungry as their foodstuff were also damaged.
A community leader in the area, Chidiebere Aloh, attributed the flooding to spill-over of Ebonyi and Ebya rivers and appealed to government at all levels to find lasting solution to the problem.
Another victim, Mrs. Tarzarn Chukwuma and Friday Nwokporo, lamented that the flood destroyed some of their household wares.
They, however, called on government to provide the victims with relief materials to cushion the effect of the disaster.
They noted that the flood has made livelihood a mirage and called on state and federal governments to come to their aid.
Meanwhile, Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Pastor Ken Oziomaeze, however, sympathised with the victims of the flood.
This was just as he assured that SEMA will offer relief materials.
