The Marketing Director B2C, Canon Central and North Africa (CCNA), Somesh Adukia, has called on the Federal Government to invest more in technology development, which is a catalyst for national development. He made the call during the official launch of its service partner platform in Lagos.
Adukia said Nigeria is a country with limitless opportunities but the growth of technology has been slow, stressing that Canon wants to expand its market reach and make business more efficient to provide better service to the public at a lower cost.
He said that with the presence of Canon in Nigeria, more job opportunities would be created as the tools to propel growth and development would be adapted.
He added that Nigerians have creative craft breathing in their veins, evidences of which are everywhere through music, art and imagery but need platform from investors to boost the country’s economy. “Going by customer feedback over time, they have realised that Nigerian customers consider after sales service and technical support to be major factors guiding their choice of product and brand,” he explained.
Also, he said that investing in products’ repairs facilities with sophisticated tools would provide customers nothing less than world-class service not only aimed at satisfying customer needs but to equally buttress their service philosophy.
“Today, Canon has established a partnership platform between Central and North Africa and three service providers with rich history and heritage in the Nigerian market – Ensure Services, Technology Distribution and BSS Kontakt,” he said.
“Our setting up of a dedicated entity in Nigeria last year and the introduction of the service partner platform is the next step in the strategy to provide the best possible services to customers in the region,” he stated.
He added that the country’s growing population and love for film, photography, broadcasting and other publications has driven Canon with the idea to meet the demand of its customers.
“Nigeria, with the largest population within Africa and high market share has tremendous potential for further growth,” he said, adding that, “it is an important hub for the thriving film industry, which Canon can support through its wide range of tools and services to help people develop their skills and get the best from their images.”
He explained how they had established collection points where they would be working and customers can drop their units for servicing in case their location is far from the service locations.
