The Federal Government has reappointed Mr. Hassan Bello as the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) for another four-year tenure.

The Director, Special Duties of NSC, Ignatius Nweke, disclosed this in a press release yesterday.

According to him, the letter conveying the renewal, dated June 9, 2017 and addressed to the council was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, S. Zakari.

Nweke added that the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, approved Bello’s appointment effective “June 20, 2017 to June 19, 2021, in accordance with relevant sections of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council Act, Cap 133, LFN 2004”.

Bello was first appointed into the position, following the expiration of the tenure of Capt Adamu Biu.

Bello, in his first four years on the saddle engineered many reforms, which grew the maritime sector. Also, under his watch, the NSC, in 2014, was named the port economic regulator.
