Fayose masterminded PDP crisis -Kashamu

By Laide Raheem, Abeokuta

The Senator representing Ogun East senatorial district, Senator Buruji Kashamu, yesterday, disclosed that the leadership crisis that engulfed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) both at the national and state levels was masterminded by the Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose.
He, therefore, called on members of the party, especially in the South-West, to hold Fayose responsible for the crisis. Kashamu stated this at his country home in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun state, at a reception ceremony organised to receive 1,500 leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the five local governments in Ogun West who defected to PDP.
The Senator slammed Fayose for putting on the toga of “the leader or voice of the opposition, which he is not”, insisting that the governor was the architect of the leadership crisis rocking the party.
He pointed out that Fayose was using his attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari as a subterfuge to cover up his tracks. His words: “As you probably would have known, he is only trying to pull the wool over our eyes in order to cover up his tracks. He seeks to use his rabid attacks on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government as a cover when called to account for his deeds in and out of office.”
“He is the architect of the leadership crisis rocking our party in the South West and at the national level. Let all our elders, leaders, and true sons and daughters in Yorubaland ignore his doomsday predictions and come together in unity and encourage the efforts of Buhari’s government that are geared towards rebuilding our country.” Kashamu stated.
He urged members of the party to desist from painting a gloomy picture of the present economic situation in the country, commending President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration for cutting import duties on 173 items expected to boost industry and rejuvenate the small-scale sector of the economy. He said: “In spite of what the naysayers might be saying, the truth is that there are opportunities everywhere. Just two days ago, I read of the cut on import duties on 173 items that are expected to boost industry and rejuvenate the small-scale sector of the economy.”
“That good news is coming on the heels of the recovery of Sambisa Forest and the hugely successful anti corruption campaign which has saved the country trillions of Naira. With all these, our economy should experience a rebound very soon,” Kasamu added.
