FORTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD Lekan Shonde, who is alleged to have killed his wife, Ronke Bewaji Shonde, now appears to have been abandoned by his family and friends to his fate.

Lekan is in the custody of the police at the Panti headquarters of the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Lagos State Police Command.

Sunday Sun gathered from sources that no one from the Shonde family had come to visit him. The only visitors were the slain wife’s Bewaji family and the couple’s children. The source also expressed concern that one-sided information was being put out when the autopsy report had not determined the cause of death of the deceased.

Lekan Shonde allegedly fought with his wife penultimate Thursday night and bolted away. Her corpse was found lying on the floor on Friday morning, by the family nanny when she came to resume work for the day, and met the children crying and saying that they could not wake up their mother.

Another source also revealed that there was no blood found around or on the body of late Ronke but because of her very fair complexion, it was easy to see the dark marks on her body, stating that there were no dark marks on other parts of her body.

In the wake of the discovery of the dead body of the wife, Shonde was alleged to have gone into hiding, from where he had accused his late wife of cheating on him and also insulting him. Later he resurfaced and surrendered himself to the police.

Meanwhile tributes have continued to pour in from many friends of the deceased, some of whom made glowing comments about her but wondered why she never shared with them that she was experiencing domestic violence at home and wishing that they contacted her before she died.

Prior to her death, Ronke had lost her brother, Jide, some months ago and was still mourning him and using his photo as a display photo on Facebook when she also died, leaving her mother distraught.

However, the result of the autopsy is being awaited while Shonde is being held in police custody.
