-Begs Gov Ugwuanyi, others for support

Six years of affliction have left Anayo Isaac, a young graduate of Applied Biochemistry from the Enugu State University (ESUT), in prolonged agony. His trouble started with a swollen jaw in 2009 and he quickly sought medical help at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, (UNTH) Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu. He was diagnosed of Ameloblastoma and had a surgery but the tumour returned few months later.
Anayo heeded his doctor’s advice and underwent a second surgery, yet, weeks later, the tumour severely fought its way back. A fresh incision/biopsy and a contrast CT scan revealed that the tumour has grown to cancer of the mandible, leaving the young graduate in an emotional whirlpool.
A native of Obollo-Eke, Udenu LGA, Enugu State, Anayo told Campus Sun that his problem started in 2009, shortly after he defended his final year project. He recalled his expectation of settling for a good life after graduation. According to him, he was desirous to pick a good job and support his parents in their old age. Sadly, that never happened. When his schoolmates were being mobilized for the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), he was busy keeping his appointments with specialist doctors.
“I have undergone two surgeries at UNTH and Atah Memorial Hospital both in Enugu State, to take the tumour off, but it has still grown back and even gone worse. Someone who had a similar experience has linked me to a hospital in Pakistan. The doctors said they could treat mine as well. I need financial help urgently for the treatment. The pains and discomfort are becoming unbearable,” he said.
He said an estimated N5m would be needed for the surgery, covering the medical bill, air-tickets, and other logistics. “My family and I have exhausted all we have on this problem. I am appealing to the Enugu State government, the Enugu State University Governing Council, religious bodies, compassionate individuals and corporate organisations to come to my aid. I have carried out requested analysis and sent the results to the doctors in Pakistan. I need help to raise this money and take away this unending pain and live a normal life again,” he said.
One of Anayo’s course-mates, Ifeanyichukwu Igwe, who responded to his appeal for help on the social media, was moved to tears when he read his friend’s post. He replied: “My man, the only thing that I know is that we must succeed in raising the money for the surgery. You are a great guy without problems. I still remember how we played departmental matches in natural science, and you are a very good striker. You are a good guy and nothing will happen to you. I cried the first time I saw this but my prayer is that the best is yet to come in your life. You are a destiny child and nothing will happen to you.”
