From Petrus Obi, Enugu

For effectively fighting crime in Enugu State, the Police Command recently received two buses from the traditional ruler of Agunese Mmaku in Awgu Local Government Area, Igwe Cyprian Maduabuchi Nevobasi, the Omeluenyi 1 of Agunese Mmaku.

Igwe Nevobasi had arrived at the Enugu State Police headquarters with members of his cabinet and traditional chiefs to make the donations.

He said the two Hummer buses were his personal contribution to the war against crime in the state.

Handing over the keys of the buses to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. DanMallam Mohammed, the monarch

popularly known as Ogirisigbo, expressed happiness with the police in Enugu.

“I have travelled far and wide, I have seen police especially in Nigeria, I must say that the police in Enugu have encouraged me to make these donations. And so long as they continue to make Enugu the safest state in the country, surely this won’t be my last visit to this headquarters,” he said.

Igwe Nevobasi called on other well-meaning Nigerians to always show support and encouragement to the police, insisting that only a well-equipped and motivated policeman can go all out to ensure the security the society craves for.

Receiving the buses, CP Mohammed called for more synergy between the various institutions and organisations in the state with the police, describing the fight against crime and criminality as everybody’s business.

The CP thanked the monarch for his kind gesture while issuing out the police emergency numbers to him and his cabinet members who accompanied him to the police command.

The commissioner urged the traditional ruler to give out the numbers to his subjects so that they could reach the police with vital security information, assuring that the police was ready to treat all information in confidence.
