The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) has said that the proposed Enugu National Meter Test Station (NMTS) would gulp N223 million.
Its Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Peter Ewesor who disclosed this at the foundation laying and ground breaking ceremony of the project, said that the station, expected to be completed in 18 months, would serve the South-East electricity consumers.
Ewesor said that it became necessary to bring NEMSA services closer in order to end the long suffering the people of the South-East have been subjected to, by going to Port-Harcourt or Lagos to resolve the various electricity issues in the zone.
He said that the station was not only timely but also worthwhile, saying “we must reinforce investors, utility companies and consumers confidence in the Nigerian power sector”.
According to him, the benefits and advantages of the meter test station included “providing infrastructural development in line with this administration’s promise to the populace; improvement of economic activities in the state, the South-East zone and Nigeria at large and providing employment generation.”
