Emir of Gwandu and Chairman Traditional Councils, Kebbi State, Alhaji Muhammed  Illiyasu Bashar, has urged Nigerians to continue to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and the country, in  general.

The Emir, retired as a Major-General in Nigeria Army alongside President Buhari, said leaders in the country needs people’s prayers, not abuse, for them to succeed.

Alhaji Bashar stated this, on Thursday, while addressing students and scholars during the 10th matriculation ceremony of the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero.

He noted that Nigeria remains a great country in the world due to its abundant human and natural resources.

He admitted that the people of the country had made mistakes in the past but they should not allow those errors to overcome the bright future of the country.

He said that rather than people continue to abuse their leaders, they should always pray for them so that the nation could attained its greatness in the global community. .

The Emir also advised politicians to stop abusing themselves and made promises they could not fulfilled for the electorates stressing that their actions contributed a lot to the nation’s problems .

In his speech, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, represented by Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Abdullahi Dakingeri, said the state government had spent a lot of money to provide accommodation for students in state tertiary institutions and on the payments of their schools fees.

Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Bello Sheu Malami, in his remark, disclosed that out of 2,500 candidates admitted, only 1,735 registered which represented an increment from 22.9 percent to 42.4 percent.

He also disclosed that the students were shared across the 23 programmes  in  the three faculties of Agriculture, Engineering, Science and Science Education.
