The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State, Mr. Abdullahi Chafe, has declared war against armed robbers and kidnappers, saying there is no hiding place for them. Already, the command clamped down on over 40 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers, recovering over 15 arms and ammunition during encounters with the hoodlums.

He told Daily Sun that the command mapped out some strategies to force criminals to relocate from the state: “We are after them. The command personnel on patrol foiled a six-man gang of robbers’ operation along Efon-Alaaye/Ijebu-Ijesa Road. The suspects escaped with bullet wounds during gun duel with the police, but the victims were rescued and arms and ammunition recovered.

“There will be 48-hour surveillance on all the black spots. I have mandated the SARS operatives, area commanders to go after the hoodlums. I have warned officers and men not to take chances. They should ready to face the challenges.

“The police recovered a double barrel gun, cutlass, harmers, cartridges, phone and a bag containing clothes and sum of N670. The suspects will soon be charged to court.

“Detectives on patrol on Ijan Road arrested three suspects at the bridge of Ago Aduloju Ogbese on Ijan/Ikole Road with 150 wraps of substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
