Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has urged Muslim faithful to use the Eid-el-Maulud celebration to pray for the enthronement of credible leaders during the 2019 general elections.
He sought prayers for peace and unity of the country and prayed that God would expose the enemies of Nigeria who are bent on unleashing terror on it citizens.
Governor Lalong, in a statement issued, on Tuesday, by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mark Longyen, urged Muslims not to be carried away by only the euphoria of the celebration, but to use it for sober reflection on the significance of the birth of the Holy Prophet.
He admonished Muslim faithful to align themselves with the teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammed and seize the opportunity presented by his birthday, to intensify prayers for peace and unity, noting that prayer is the panacea for every challenge.
The governor continued, “I urge all Muslims to fervently pray for the successful conduct of the 2019 general elections so that the will of God will prevail and culminate in the election of credible leaders to run the affairs of the country.

“Without prayers, brotherly love, forgiveness, harmony, tolerance and accommodation, religion would be meaninglessness while peace would be elusive in the society.
“Hence the need for all to strive for peaceful coexistence with all men as taught by the Prophet.”
Governor Lalong stressed that religion should be the moral compass for all believers in their public and personal lives, and so people should let the teachings of their religions influence their conducts, so as to eliminate challenges such as corruption, kidnappings and killings, among others.
He reassured the people of the state that his administration would continue to take proactive measures to guarantee the security of lives and property, while sustaining the relative peace already attained and consolidating on the achievements so far made in the last three and a half years.
