Renowned stadium facility expert, Ebi Egbe, wants the Abuja National Stadium to be handed over to his outfit, Monimichelle under a concession arrangement with the sports ministry.

Egbe said the magnificent edifice would bounce back and serve as home ground for all the National teams if his outfit is allowed to manage it.

He said he is pained that such a multi million naira edifice is being allowed to rot away, even as all our national teams crisis cross the country in search of where to play.

“Monimichelle intends to bid for the Abuja National Stadium. We would use our expertise to put it in good shape. We would re grass the turf and make it world class alongside the tartan tracks. If we get the sports ministry’s nod, that would end the present situation where the Super Eagles and our other national teams are homeless. The Abuja stadium should be our fortress and it is a shame that we can’t play there, given the poor state of the pitch,” Egbe said.

The Bayelsa born FIFA licensed match agent said he was close to tears when he saw the state of the pitch when the NFF took FIFA President there for an U-13 exhibition game.

“That is not the kind of pitch we should be showcasing to the world. I hope the sports ministry will give us the opportunity to turn the place around and make it commercially viable for the country under a concession arrangement.”

It would be noted that Monimichelle is the firm re constructing the Enyimba Stadium, Aba. The firm also constructed the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi and the Karkanda Stadium turf in Katsina, a pitch which the Super Eagles gave a pass mark when they played a friendly there.
