As Edo marks 25 years of creation of the state, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the September 10 governorship elections, Godwin Obaseki, has expressed confidence that Edo will rise above current challenge, assuring of a better and brighter future for all Edo citizens.
In his goodwill message, Obaseki congratulated all Edo citizens at home and abroad on the occasion of the state’s silver jubilee, and commended the Comrade Governor, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, for his relentless struggle in liberating the state from the grip of selfish politicians who held the state hostage for many years, and for proving to the people that Edo can, indeed, work.
“After many years of stagnation and underdevelopment due to massive looting of our commonwealth by previous administrations, Edo is on the move again – thanks to the strong leadership and focus provided by our Comrade Governor. But the journey to Eldorado is only just beginning!
“The world is set for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. We have identified the cycles and markers and we are prepared to play our part in this forward shift in the gears, ideologically opposed to being left behind. Our vision is a modern and progressive Edo State where every citizen is empowered with opportunity to live life in its fullness, and this is in line with the philosophies and aspirations of the founding fathers of the state”, he said.
The APC flagbearer also stated that by working together as a people, Edo State can rise above every obstacle in the wheel of her progress, and that through shared responsibility and commitment Edo’s glory as one of the most productive and economically advanced states in Nigeria can be restored.
“Democracy is much more than the right to vote.  Its spirit must influence the responsibilities of the leaders and duties of the citizens every day. Democracy breathes through a vibrant Parliament, an independent judiciary, a responsible media, a vigilant civil society, and a bureaucracy committed to integrity and hard work”, he observed.
Obaseki assured of better days ahead for Edo people, promising that his will be a people-oriented and inclusive government. He appealed to the electorate to support his bid by voting massively for the APC during  September 10 gubernatorial election.
