NDLEA apprehends cross-border drugs smuggler

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Yola, capital of Adamawa State, has paraded a Chadian, Adamu Muhammed, who was arrested with banned drugs weighing 186 kgs.

Muhammed was caught at Jimeta-Yola Modern Market while negotiating for a vehicle to convey the illicit substances to Cameroon for onward movement to Chad Republic.

Adamawa State commander of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Yakubu Kibo, has paraded a drug trafficker before newsmen in Yola.

He explained that on August 12, 2017, one, a middle-aged Chadian was arrested with five cartons containing banned Tramadol tablets weighing 186 Kilograms.

According to him,after thorough interrogation, Adamu Muhammed, confessed that the source of the drugs was Onitsha market.

Men of the command also arrested one Peter Danboyi at the same Market, who was in possession of a carton containing 39.8 kilograms of cough syrup with codeine and 11 gram of Rohypnol tablets.

He emphasised the need for Nigeria’s neighbours to collaborate with it to fight the proliferation of banned substances.

He said NDLEA would continue to frustrate those who wish to make Adamawa and Nigeria drug transit points.

Officials of the Adamawa State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency are seeking the cooperation of all sundry in their bid to rid the state of drugs- related crime.
