Politicians in the country have been urged not to politicise the health issue of President Muhammadu Buhari but rather, they should be united to pray for his quick recovery.
The call was made by Baba Aladura of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, His Most Eminence, Prophet (Dr.) Michael Ebahor-Erebi, while declaring open the Mid Year conference of Hotonu Mother Church held at C & S Ifelodun, Ijeh, Obalende, Lagos, on Saturday.
The clergyman said if all Nigerians irrespective of their religion inclinations prayed for the President who is on medical vacation in London expressed optimism that the President will return soon to continue with his good works.
He said, “As a church we are praying for the President and we urge all Nigerians to please pray for him. He is doing a great work by fighting corruption which has been a major problem inhibiting progress and development of this country. We need him at this moment to sanitize the polity and bring back prosperity to the land”.
The Prophet, who called on the government to address the rising cost of living in the country said, the time has come for governments at both federal and state level to lift embargo on employment and provide job for the teeming youths roaming the streets.
He also called on ethnic militia group to give peace a chance and see Nigeria as a “God’s project” that cannot be divided and prayed that Nigeria will never witnessed civil war again.
The Vice Baba Aladura of the Church, His Eminence, Prophet Gabriel Okulaja, also urged the government to be more proactive in stopping killings of Christians in the Northern part of the country.
He said the time has come for the government to revisit reports of various Commission of Inquiries that had investigated crises in that part of the country and come out with White Paper to find lasting solutions to the killings.
He said, “The current political situation in Nigeria calls for our prayers and we must be doing this fervently in our various House of Prayers. The rate at which Christians are still being killed or marginalized is unacceptable especially in the Northern part of the country. We appeal to government to be more pro-active in check-mating this trend and prevent it from leading to avoidable conflagration. We are aware of various reports of commission of enquiries that investigated some of these crises, it is time for the government to bring them out and implement their recommendations”.
