Brooklyn-born Haitian recording artiste, Mickael Marabou has been expressive about how Africa and Africans have been a boon to her music career and therefore felt it is incumbent on her to show gratitude by bringing her music closer to the continent. 

“That is why I am edging closer to the continent, hoping to bridge the gap between Haiti and the motherland with music and philanthropy,” she declared.

 

Mickael Marabou, one of today’s most successful independent artistes with two certified viral hits under her belt, is acknowledged as the creator of “AfroKreyol”, a new sound that is an amalgam of Haitian Kreyòl and Afrobeat. Her ability to blend Caribbean, Hip-Hop and Afrobeat stands her out on the international stage and easily won her collaboration with various artistes across Africa.

Her 2019 hit “Fever,” a collaboration with Nigerian star, Skales and The Ghetto Kids from Uganda, was a smash single that dominated music charts in the Caribbean and beyond with over 800,000 combined digital streams across all platforms. “Fever”, which set off an international dance craze on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, further increased her popularity on the music scene.

She followed it up in 2020 with another hit, “Mamma” featuring Congolese singer BM aka “The King of Afrobeat Dance.” The video of the single, one of the trending hit during the pandemic, recorded an impressive over one million views on YouTube, in addition to nearly 900,000 collective streams across digital streaming platforms.

 

On why she attached so much importance to highlighting the  link between Haiti and Africa, Mickael Marabou explained: “The most African blood found in the west is in Haiti, it is my ambition to reaffirm that lost connection.”
