A top contender in Delta State 2019 governorship election, Comrade Sunny Ofehe, who earlier this week returned from the Netherlands was yesterday hosted in a town hall meeting by Deltans living in Lagos.

The town hall meeting according to Comrade Ofehe is organised by indigenes of Delta State in Lagos to show support and solidarity towards his governorship ambition in a State that is in dire need of accountable leadership.

Reacting to the choice of Lagos as the welcome town hall party venue, Comrade Ofehe said “The choice of Lagos as my first town hall meeting has generated a lot of concern by many of you who suggested that the Town hall meeting should have been held in Delta State”.

“The Lagos town hall meeting was organised and sponsored by my friends and Delta citizens living in Lagos. The idea was to welcome me back with a stakeholders meeting that will address many issues that relates to my consultations. Despite the rain the flooded the Lagos Island, many important dignitaries attended the event. There was enough time to engage in a Q & A”.

The vibrant intellectual Niger Delta activist will however take his campaign home in Delta State in a date that will be announced soon. Speaking to reporters shortly after the event, the gubernatorial aspirant confirmed “The next town hall meeting will be in Delta State with venue and date to be announced soon”.

Comrade Ofehe is the back-bone of the intellectual side of the Niger Delta struggle,  through the HNDC he started the publication of a monthly Niger Delta Diaspora magazine called “Inside Niger Delta Magazine”. This is the first of its kind outside Nigeria. He is the Publisher of this new venture.

His non-violent approach to his advocacy has endeared him to many. He has played prominent role in bringing an end to hostage taking in the Niger Delta. His campaign has led to specific release of Dutch kidnapped oil workers in recent times. His uncompromising stance has brought him against people in government and even some of the militants groups.

Comrade Ofehe have been in consultation with stakeholders in Delta politics and his return to Delta State will culminate in a systematic campaign towards his 2019 gubernatorial ambition.
