Dangote Group of companies has released the sum of N1 billion as compensation to the people of Tunga,  in Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State where the sugar plantation company is located.

Traditional ruler of Tunga, Alhaji Muhammed Ibrahim Shuaibu, told newsmen, on Thursday, in Awe that Dangote had already deposited N800 million in First City Monument Bank with the name ‘Tunga Projects Funds’

The Monarch, who assured his subjects of equitable distribution of the funds, said two committees were set up to take inventory of all the people that were supposed to benefit,  adding that the first set of beneficiaries would receive their money next week.

He dismissed insinuations in some quarters that the money has been diverted and assured that members of the committee are men of proven integrity and cannot do anything that will jeopardize their integrity.

The Monarch equally assured Dangote Group of companies of the determination of the people to cooperate with them in order to ensure smooth operation of  the sugar plantation company in the area.

Recalled that the company recently signed an MoU with Nasarawa state government to establish a sugar factory in the state that will be the largest in Africa and the company immediately released N217 billion for its take off.
