The Nigerian film industry is set for a move to the next level with the establishment of a new film school in Ibadan, Oyo State, by Yoruba movie actor, Olasunkanmi Dada.

Commenting on his project, Dada said: “I noticed that many youths are joining the industry on daily basis. But unfortunately, most of them don’t have the required training to do a good job. I am convinced that if a school is established to train these youths, we would be developing the future of the industry.”

The young actor, who also doubles as producer, fell in love with acting as a little child after watching several television plays. Shortly after his secondary education, he made up his mind to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. However, his father would have none of it because he wanted his son to be a banker.

But with determination on his part, the old man later gave his blessing, and soon after, Sunkanmi joined Ojo Olowojolu Theatre Group. Sunkanmi’s debut movie, Ona Ola, opened the door for more jobs and ever since, he has not looked back.

In 1998, Sunkanmi traveled to China to study Banking but soon drifted back to his first love – acting, as he later found his way back into the industry in 2010.

Though, Sunkanmi was not able to fulfill his father’s dream of becoming a banker, the young actor has largely made up for the failure with his high profile success in life.Today, Sunkanmi has gone from acting to production. His latest production,entitled, Akinbatedo is billed for release anytime from now.
