A cleric and General Overseer of Livingspring Word-Alive Assembly Incorporated, Achuputa Obosi, Anambra state, Bishop Silvanus Onwuachu has warned the National Assembly over the alleged Sharia bill that has passed second reading in the Senate, saying that if passed into law it will cause religious crisis in the country.

He called on the Senate to drop the so-called Sharia bill, if it exists, because Nigeria is a secular state.

Bishop Onwuachu who spoke with Daily Sun yesterday called on Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) not to wait until the bill is passed into law before they respond.

“We are not comfortable with it at all, and we say no to Sharia. The government should be careful on how they handle religious issues because if we have a religious war in Nigeria it will affect everybody, Boko Haram will be a small issue. Christians in the senate should be careful.”
