A housewife, Ramatu Abdullahi, reportedly died from fresh cholera outbreak in Nasarawa State, yesterday, while over 20 victims have been hospitlised in Angwan Lambu, Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

Daily Sun gathered that those affected by the disease were mostly students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, who live in Angwan Lambu, a student settlement.
Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Abraham Ekpo, said some students were admitted in the school clinic, as a result of the outbreak

“There was an outbreak of cholera and some of our students were affected. I don’t have the exact number for now, but, there has been no death of any student; so far,” said Ekpo.
But, leader of Angwan Lambu, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, told Daily Sun in Keffi, yesterday, that Ramatu Abdullahi, housewife and mother of eight died from the outbreak, a day after she was rushed to the General Hospital for care.
Mohammed disclosed he contracted cholera, two weeks ago.

He also revealed that four infected victims resident in the university’s staff quarters, eight others in Angwan Lambu, while others  are students.

The Angwan Lambu leader reiterated that some of students are hospitalised, while others  were taken to their various homes; by their parents.

“My younger and elder brother’s wives were also infected, but, we thank God that they got healed when they were taken to the hospital.

“Unfortunately, Ramatu, a housewife and member of the community couldn’t make it.
“She was rushed to the hospital while vomiting and purging. The following day, she died,” he said

if he reported the cholera outbreak to the Health Department of the local government, he replied: No, but your question has reminded me; I will do that today, so that they can come to the aid of the victims.”
