From AIDOGHIE PAULINUS, Abuja

Among other assignments, which formed part of his visit to the country, according to Weimin, the implementation of the agreements signed by successive governments was primary.

Speaking during a media dialogue held in his honour by the Leadership Newspapers in Abuja, Weimin said: “The purpose of my visit to Nigeria is to implement the important agreements and cooperation reached between the Chinese and Nigerian presidents on Developing the Strategic Partnership of China-Nigeria Relations and to help work closely with Nigeria to ensure the outcome of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Johannesburg Summit which was concluded in December 2015.” Weimin further said his agenda was to, “push forward our bilateral relations by intensive exchanges with the government, mass media and ordinary people in Nigeria, especially the exchanges and cooperation in media and social culture.”

“Over the four decades since we implemented the Reform and Opening up, China’s social productive and people’s livelihood has improved significantly. Meanwhile, the aspiration for better life is becoming intensive, and people’s requests show the diversification and multilevels. After we met the basic needs of adequate food and clothing (well-to-do), they are also anticipating better education, better social security, better environment and enriched spiritual life.
