Oswald Waller Catholic College of Education, Shendam, Plateau State has matriculated 40 students for its 2016/2017 academic session.
The Provost of the college, Prof. Mathew Sule made this known on Saturday in Shendam during the 4th matriculation of the institution.
He said that the catholic institution, which was established four years ago, was not only for academic attainment but to instill moral discipline in students.
He said that the college was determined to train the future teachers to be role models to their students and the society.
Sule said that 11 courses out of the 15 courses in the school had been accredited by the National Commission for Colleges of Education.
“The other four, which are Biology, Geography, Economics and Mathematics, are in the interim status which means that more efforts should be made to improve on these courses.
“We have qualified lecturers with impeccable credentials to help inculcate knowledge and skills to these students,” he said.
He implored the matriculating students to study hard and imbibe good morals while expressing joy that the first graduates of the school were rated among the best at their various compulsory teaching practice stations.
Mr Alex Mairiga, the Plateau Commissioner for Secondary Education urged the students not to engage in any examination malpractice, saying that it was detrimental to sound education.
According to him, “what you learn is your own, what you steal you cannot defend it.’’
Miss Mercy Lukas, one of the matriculating students of the English and Christian Religious Studies said that she would abide by the regulations of the institution. (NAN)
