The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), on Wednesday, said that it has obtained intelligence report that suspected Fulani herdsmen have orchestrated plans to unleash terror on communities in Southern Kaduna and other Christian-dominated areas in some Middle Belt states of the country.

CAN specifically said its intelligence report indicated that the attacks are targeted at Southern Kaduna Chiefdoms and towns that include Gumel, Dagwarga, Daddu, Mariri, Kagoro, hotels, Open University and other soft targets.

Its President, Dr. Samson Ayokunle Olasupo, in a statement by his media aide, Pastor Bayo Oladeji, asked the Federal and Kaduna state governments to take concrete actions that would avert the attacks.

He said: “We just witnessed unprecedented human carnage in Plateau state few days ago. We, thus, appeal to President Buhari to place the security agencies on red alert in order to avoid a similar recurrence.

“We are happy with the statement credited to Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, that perpetrators of the Plateau carnage would not escape justice.

“But we suggest that government, at least, ensure that these blood-thirsty herdsmen are compel to face the law.”

Meanwhile, the umbrella body of Christian faithful in Nigeria, said its independent investigation confirmed that no fewer than 218 death was recorded in the attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen that also resulted in the destruction of communities in three Local Government Areas.

“Apart from the total number of death, there are many more missing persons. Many people also sustained various degrees of injury,” he added.
