…Thanks Nigerians for supporting her husband

From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja

Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, yesterday returned to the country from Saudi Arabia where she went for the lesser Hajj, while President Muhammadu Buhari is still being expected.

Mrs. Buhari left the country a day after her husband proceeded to London on vacation amid speculations about the state of his health. She was said to have proceeded to Saudi Arabia to pray for him as his health status was said to have taken a turn for the worse.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had written the National Assembly, a day before he was scheduled to resume work from his vacation, to extend his stay indefinitely based on the advice of his doctors.

Security and protocol staff in the Presidency said they had been put on standby waiting for the next orders on the President’s arrival. The exact day he is coming is not clear. He was expected to arrive the country yesterday or today.

Shortly after her arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Mrs Aisha Buhari, prayed for peace, stability and progress of Nigeria.

Mrs Buhari, who arrived the Airport about 3:15 p.m. local time urged Nigerians not to relent in their prayers and good deeds for Nigeria to prosper among the comity of nations.

The wife of the President, who expressed gratitude to God for the successful trip, also prayed for Nigerian leaders and for peaceful coexistence of Nigerians. Director of Information to the wife of the President, Suleiman Haruna, in a press release quoted her as saying: “I thank God for journey mercies, I prayed for Nigeria and Nigerian leaders and we should not relent in prayers and good deed.”

She also expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, urging them to sustain the tempo.

“I want to thank all Nigerians for the goodwill and support for my husband and Nigeria in general,” she said.

She was received by the wife of the Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki, former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Mrs Pauline Tallen and aides of the wife of the President.
