A civil society organisation, The National Coalition of Patriots for Positive Change, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to seek a second term in office.

The group said the success recorded by the President in the ongoing war against insurgency is enough achievements for the president to seek a second term by 2019.

According to a press statement made available to our correspondent and signed by its ‎National President, Charles Mbani, and ‎ ‎Secretary General‎, Israel Akindele, said the President deserves a second term.

The coalition explained that after a critical assessment of the administration of President Buhari in the past two years, they had no doubt that he has performed creditably well especially in the area of war against insurgency in the North east.

According to the coalition, “We would recall that one of his campaign promises is to win the war against Boko Haram insurgents who were in control of over 20 local government areas in Borno State.

“Today, no local government area in Borno State is under the control of Boko Haram insurgents. This is indeed a testament to the commitment of President Muhammdu Buhari to the Nigerian cause. He has indeed matched words with action,” said the coalition.

The coalition further maintained that they believed President Buhari deserves another term of four years in office for him to consolidate on his numerous achievements, especially the war against terrorism and corruption.

It continued, “‎We also believe that the purposeful leadership provided by President Muhammdu Buhari has returned Nigeria to the path of progress and ensure that never again in our history as a nation would we be held ransom by insurgents and terrorist.”

The group also appreciate the Nigerian military and urge the Service Chiefs never to relent in defending the Sovereignty and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
