The President has directed that the Affairs of the Ministry should be piloted by Abubakar because of her credibility and service so far.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Hajiya Aisha Abubakar, Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment as Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development with immediate effect.

The President has directed that the affairs of the Ministry should be piloted by Abubakar because of her credibility and service so far.

The appointment follows the resignation of Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan (Mrs) as Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development from the Buhari administration and her withdrawal from the ruling party APC.

President Muhammadu Buhari accepted Alhassan’s resignation with immediate effect.

The letter signed by the President on Sunday reads:

“I have received your letter offering your resignation as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I accept your resignation with immediate effect.

“On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, I thank you for your past services to the nation.”
