Welcome to another week in the school of money. We want to focus on how to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. It is an open secret that the tendency of life is that the rich get richer and the poor poorer and many have wondered why this is so. We can come up with different reasons for this, but they may be debatable. Our focus will be on the seven gaps that need to be bridged.

1. THE KNOWLEDGE GAP:

One major gap between the rich and the poor that needs to be bridged is the knowledge gap. Knowledge is power and what you know determines how far you can go. Those who know rule over those who do not know and that is why some are poor and some are rich. To move from poverty to riches, knowledge is essential, and the reason many people remain poor is that they don’t prioritise the acquisition of knowledge. Make a commitment today to give personal development and continual acquisition of the right to knowledge a priority in your life so you can bridge the gap. If you are not informed you will be deformed, if you are not updated you will be outdated, if you are not inspired you will expire, if you are not in the know you cannot be in the flow. The day you stop learning you are dying instalmentally.

2. THE MINDSET GAP:

The second major gap that needs to be bridged is the mindset gap. If you have ever spent enough time with the rich and the poor, you will realise that they have different mindsets and they think differently:

While the rich think income, the poor think salary

While the rich think solution, the poor think problem

While the rich think possibility, the poor think impossibility etc.

A wise man once said “ if you think you can or you think you can’t you are right, if you believe you can or you believe you can’t you are right because it is what you think and believe that matters.” It’s time to bridge the mindset gap.

3. THE HABIT GAP:

The third gap that needs to be bridged is the habit gap. It is a fact that the rich and the poor have different habits that play a major role in the outcome of their lives. As I travel round the world I have realised that rich people are the same and so are poor people. No matter where they are located, their habits shape their outcome.

The rich and the poor differ in the following ways:

Time management habit

Resource management habit

Relationship management habit

Life goals management habit

Decision making management habit

Discipline management habit etc

It’s time to intentionally work on your habit and replace the negative with the positive.

4. THE OPPORTUNITY GAP:

Another major gap that needs to be bridged between the rich and the poor is the opportunity gap. While many poor people always claim not to have as much opportunities as the rich (this is debatable), they mostly focus more on what they don’t have instead of on what they have. Opportunities abound everywhere but while the rich see it, the poor don’t and that sets them a world apart.

When poor people see problems, rich people see opportunities because they know that money hides in problem. The ability to identify opportunities and maximize them is key for anyone that wants to become rich in life. If you position yourself to be a solution provider and a problem solver, you will see opportunities everywhere. No wonder the word poor is an acronym for P.O.O.R: Passing Over Opportunities Repeatedly. Rise up to new opportunities from today as you bridge the gap.

5. THE ASSOCIATION GAP:

The fifth gap that must be bridged is the association gap. We all must have heard the sayings:

# Birds of the same feather flock together

# Evil communication corrupts good manners

# Show me your friend and I will show you the kind of person you are

# You can’t lie down with dogs and not pick up fleas

# they that walk with the wise shall be wise etc.

A wise man once said “where you will be in the next five years will be determined by the books you read and the friends you keep” and what this reveal is that your information and association will determine your destination.

If you are poor – check your association

If you are rich – check your association.

6. THE TECHNOLOGY GAP:

The next gap that needs to be bridged is the technology gap, and going through the list of the rich and wealthy people in the world today will reveal that those who use and leverage technology are the ones at the top globally. The last two decades has further revealed the importance of technology as we have seen companies and industries swallowed by new technology. Technology has changed the landscape of things in our world today and also makes the difference between the rich and the poor. While the rich use technology and continue to look out for better technology, the poor mostly think technology is not for them or too expensive for them.

7. THE GRACE GAP:

The final gap that needs to be bridged is the grace gap, and I included this because I don’t want to be guilty of leaving mis-education. In my school of money book, I revealed the three views of education as: Educated, uneducated and mis-educated. Many people are familiar with being educated or uneducated but not with mis-education. One aspect of mis-education is keeping away from people a vital aspect of the education they need to have yet leaving them believing they have all they need.

There is a grace dimension to life, which is a result of your spiritual status and divine endowments and this also makes a lot of difference between the rich and the poor and it’s a gap that needs to be breached. I release grace upon you as a carrier of grace and declare that the grace required for the race of your life and the grace that destroys disgrace flow forever in your life from today.
